Critical Regionalism

At Anderson Alexander, we strive to design modern homes that are deeply connected to their surroundings. This means we take inspiration from existing architectural elements and reinterpret them in a contemporary way. For instance, we might use traditional clapboard siding to create a modern facade with clean lines and geometric shapes. Our goal is to develop a design language that respects the site and its context while allowing us to explore new and meaningful forms.

As we work across the East Coast, our approach to modern architecture continues to be place-based. Our projects in Miami, for example, have a distinct look and feel compared to our other work, yet they maintain a modern aesthetic. By incorporating elements from Florida's rich architectural history, we create open and airy spaces that are filled with natural light.
